A reminder / notificaiton that the Blue Planet wiki site extists at bp-rpg.org/Main_Page . It's not been updated in many a year, but contributions and updates are always welcome. Visitors may want to start with the Contributed and Access Denied categories, to see what's there. All Blue Planet content is welcome! I'm the admin for it, and I can't remember if I set up the account authorisation email side of things. If you'd like an account to edit the site, please let me know and we'll get something sorted out.

Thanks, Neil!! It certainly has the potential to become an awesome tool! With a range of notable changes being introduced in the Recontact edition, perhaps it would be wise to postpone data input on the wiki until the new books are released?

With a range of notable changes being introduced in the Recontact edition, perhaps it would be wise to postpone data input on the wiki until the new books are released? I just host it, not control it. If people want to put stuff online now, who am I to stand in their way? In any case, most things will be equally applicable to the new version. Yes, stats and similar may need updating, but there's nothing stopping people posting Recontact-quickstart-compatible material right now.

Yeah, I think we may have seen the majority of retcons/amendments in general lore by now. At the moment the site does ask for a login. I've sent you an email with access request. Data input might be a fun for the months of waiting we all have ahead of ourselves, before the new books arrive.

Yes, the site requires an account to be able to edit. I've had bad experiences of drive-by spam insertions if it gets left open. But creating a new account is the work of a moment; all I need is a username and email address to use.

Well, that was an effort. It seems that one of the many software updates over the years managed to corrupt the database of articles. Luckily, I had a very old back from years ago, so I've manage to restore them all. Take a look at the front page at bp-rpg.org/Main_PageHopefully, people will now be able to sign up for their own accounts on the site using the Create Account page at bp-rpg.org/Special:CreateAccount . If you try, please let me know how it goes!

Ooph, doesn't sound good. But well done on restoring from backup! The page looks much richer now, entry-wise, and yeah I can confirm that self-catered account creation now works fine. Thanks very much, Neil. Looking forward to participating, once there's some more time (probably when the campaign is over).

I don't have anything particular to contribute to the Wiki right now, but I signed up for an account to test it for you. It worked perfectly.

Well, that lasted a long time. I opened up general account creation and within hours someone created 60-odd accounts and created loads of spam.
I've now turned of account creation, deleted lots of pages, and blocked lots of accounts.
If your account got caught up in it, please PM me or something and I'll get it sorted.

Wow, some vicious people out there! Damn. Sorry you're having so much trouble with the page. Thanks, but it's not a problem. It was a bit of experiment. I run similar sites for other local clubs, and I get regular requests to set up accounts there. It was worth seeing if spam-protection measures have improved and I could open those up for general registration. It seems that the anti-spam isn't good enough, and that bot-created wiki-link-spam is still a thing. Both are good to know!

As being one of the original authors of the wiki pages I don't think to worry much about changes that needs to be made due to updates of the game, most was basic information or related to my campaign Storm in Paradise.
Our experience from back then is that spammers p0wn the internet, I am not up to date on the software but you more or less have to create the accounts on a case by case basis or the scum bots takes over.

Welcome back! I agree. Most of the wiki content is system-neutral. The main question facing it is how we use the wiki to best effect going forward. It could well be that the Undercurrents section here replaces the need to have a separate wiki going forward. What are people's opinions?

I think the main use of the wiki is as an index or brief lexicon of Poseidon, it is so much information in the books and it is near impossible to find the necessary information. I hope the new books will have a much better index but let's see. I agree that the Undercurrent section here reduces the need for the wiki – or the other way around, a wiki is a much better format than a forum (and Freeforum is definitely not a good one either, I am definitely not in favour of it) in my opinion, especially if it starting to get some material (and it is easier to add to others material).
I would prefer the wiki over forum but I might be old-fashioned.
