Your boat crew is to take over as the command staff at Downstone Gulf, a small Guild outpost just over the border into the Twilight Frontier. The current cadre is being rotated home from the front, and even though you are only interim relief you are honored, and a little surprised, to be given a mission of such responsibility. Though not fresh from the Academy you are hardly ranking Knights after all.
Garrisoning a fort on the Frontier is a tough assignment either way you look at it. One part boring tedium and one part anxious vigilance the job is a draining clock-to-clock routine, punctuated by sudden crisis or military assault. The Children of the Dark are a constant and imminent threat for which the fort must always stand ready.
You are to proceed to Cliffside, the capitol of Horizon, take aboard a small complement of freshly trained Liegemen and deliver them as part of your relief. The outpost is undermanned and in urgent need of the new personnel. The journey is to serve as a sort of shake down for the marines who - due to the “exigencies of the service” - did not receive their full course of naval training before being posted to the Fort.
From Cliffside your are to dive directly to the Frontier and make your way with all due haste to Downstone. The numerous Tumbledowns in the region make navigation hazardous and so you are advised to proceed with due caution and post double lookouts. The latest dispatches report no recent Child encounters in the area but you should remain alert as they are known to be active in the skies around the fort.
But for your stopover in Cliffside, the journey should take no more than 10 clocks, but if the Wind and weather prove fair you could make the voyage in as few as 8. Of course, there are any number of reasons that such a trip might take a little longer...
