I personally like the first script the most.

Yeah, me too. Sometimes less is more, I reckon. For an intro video, a little less detailed narration perhaps makes it a little more intriguing.

I'm a little late to this, as I only realised I wasn't getting notified of new posts this morning when I checked in to find out what time the Kickstarter would go live.
I can't help feeling that both of those options set up a very "them vs us, playing Natives" expectation for the game, though, and the setting is far from limited to that.

Oh yeah, there are so many other facets to the colony world, definitely! I think in this case the focus simply comes from the Recontact theme. The promo video (or at least a part of it?) is now ready. Have a look: www.youtube.com/watch?v=PiNKdFRU7vsI think, though it's just my personal opinion, that thanks to the impressively serene/holistic voice & manner of speech of the narrator, their subjective antagonism isn't off-putting.

I did watch it after posting that comment. To me it still seems to suggest the intention would be to play Natives resisting the Colonial/Incorp incursions (and the voice mannerisms seemed a little bit clichéd, for want of a better word, but that's another matter).
I just worry that it might put off those who would be interested in other options. I'd imagine anyone who gets as far as reading the material would realise otherwise, but those people are likely buying the game anyway.
Jeff even mentions in the comments on the campaign page that they have 8+ suggested campaign frameworks in mind. I think that sort of thing should be more prominent.
Don't get me wrong. I love this setting and backed it instantly (possibly the first backer even, looking at the timing), but I'd like it to be a success with as many new people as possible too.

Right there with you. The more backers we amass, the more lifeblood the campaign gets, the bigger and better a whole line of books ahead of us!!! It would be amazing to get to see other such videos, each narrating the same thing from a different perspective. That diversity - an entanglement of differing backgrounds and views and goals - is one of the main aspects of Blue Planet. Perhaps the most important, right after the ecological one.

Tun Kai Poh wrote a sort of screenplay for a Blue Planet trailer, about 20 years ago. I've still got it on my computer somewhere, and I think it could have made a great video introduction to the game.

Tun Kai Poh is an awesome writer! If you still have that screenplay somewhere, I'd love to cast a glance.

Hmm, that's a very good point, Jason. I'll pop him a message and ask, cheers.

Oh wow. Impressive doesn't even begin to describe it! I imagine filming something like this would need a budget in hundreds of thousands. But wow, even just reading it and having your imagination do all the filming crew's jobs, makes for a fantastic experience. Thank you very much for sharing it! Brilliant stuff.
