I don't know what products are in the works for the new edition of Blue Planet, but I saw something for another game that I thought would be very helpful for Blue Planet.
The Polaris RPG has something called the "Polaris RPG - Character File" (the Amazon entry for this product can be found here: www.amazon.com/Polaris-RPG-Character-Philippe-Tessier/dp/2363281853/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=polaris+rpg&qid=1577906669&sr=8-3 ). This thingie has a copy of the extended character sheet for the game, plus some sheets for vehicles and equipment. What's interesting, though, is that it also includes a basic introduction to the Polaris world, gives details on a number of the factions and powers in it, and includes a sample map or two. It's an excellent way to introduce new players to the world of Polaris, and I think that something similar directed at the world of Blue Planet would be a very useful introduction.
Just a suggestion, but one that I hope will be helpful.

As a random thought, what might be fun and useful would be "A Tourist's Guide to Poseidon". Do it like a Lonely Planet guide, but at the end of each section, include a few pages of material such as Adventure Seeds and the stats of some locally important/interesting NPCs, critters, and products.

That would be fun---the future-equivalent of Rick Steve's travel guides!

In all fairness though, I wholeheartedly think that "Poseidon: A Survival Guide" (in PBv2 Player's Guide) is already an absolutely awesome, fully in-character and yet full of detail, expansive introduction to the setting. It's not aimed at a generic tourist, who's probably a fairly rare animal on Poseidon, but rather all kinds of newcomers who are just about to settle the planet. 15 pages just oozing with first-hand presented lore. Apart from a couple of intro words about the mechanics, it's pretty much the entirety of Chapter 1. All the countless location descriptions in BPv2 Moderator's Guide though are much more objective. There are plenty of locals and adventure seeds given there. This format works exceptionally well in my opinion, though of course I'd love to see more lore stuffed in just about anywhere possible.

I'd agree about the exisiting survival guide, and the point about it being fairly generic colonist stuff. I feel that a similar thing could be done from other organisations that operate on Posedon too though... and would be biased from that organisation perspective. Sort of like a field manual or a company handbook, containing all that a newcomer might need to know regarding that organisations operations on Posiedon , facilities etc (at least, the bits the company wants it's employees to be made known.. ). That should be a 4-6 page intro for separate corporate focused supplements. The intro could be made into a "freebie" taster along with a couple of themed pre-gen characters.

Haha, I'd love to see a GenDiver field operative's introduction to the Baffin settlement. Or a travel leaflet for Lunar tourists bemused at any comparisons between Second Try and domed cities on the Moon.
