Maybe their damage resistance should be like armour and not physique?
While armour and toughness for creatures was an overkill in V2, doing away both may give rise to such rule anomalies. or ?

To be creative, I wrote that up for an rpg.net reply, some solutions to the problem:
- Use the armour and toughness rules for creatures from V2. Make mass armor, which does not modify the trauma roll. - Make 0 always fail - Add called shot modifers to the Stun and Trauma rolls
