Yesterday's Kickstarter update, for those that cannot see it, started with the hyperbole:
It continues with showing the final covers, talked about late pledges available at the Pledgebox site (see pinned thread in this forum for further details), that Jeff will now have more time for the Storm Surge campaign setting, and a quote he found in 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne that was found too late to be included in the core books but will be included in the Storm Surge book. Most importantly he ends with a list of links to this forum, the Biohazard website, GKG's Blue Planet Discord and finally Blighted Mike's Unofficial Blue Planet Discord.
What the update particularly lacked was a timeline, and this is why I decided to jump ahead of Pawel and post this, but personally I don't think anything will ship before Christmas, which I think is a good thing because less books will be lost in that shipping chaos. I have not seen anything about where the books will be printed, but I presume it is China, which means that we need to keep our eyes on the shipping chaos around the Chinese New Year's. Hopefully it will ship in-between. Anyone that has other speculations?
Splashdown
Since the first of these monthly updates I have been leaning on the thematic analogy of a trip back to Poseidon - leaving earth orbit with the Kickstarter success, passing the outer planets when drafts were submitted, transiting the wormhole when the editing was done, entering orbit as the layout started coming in. If I may continue without stretching the comparison too thin, it feels like our shuttle has finally splashed down with the final PDFs and that we are being towed to the Haven docks as the files head off to the printer.
During the printing phase, the project will mostly be out of our hands. We will be reviewing proofs as they come in, but most of the work will simply be waiting until the books come back and orchestrating distribution. It means that this, and the next couple updates, are likely to be a little thin on first-hand progress reports. It’s simultaneously exciting and anxiety inducing…
