Hey fellow mammals, Awesome update this month! The pledge manager is nearly upon us. Jeff will be announcing the date sometime soon. This will give all the late arrivals the chance to join the pod - and this will also be when we'll all be paying our book shipping fees. Apart from that, we got an update from the 2nd mini-campaign in the Storm Surge play-test and another chapter preview - this time it's a faction write-up, including some never before seen cultural lore. Exciting stuff!!

There's some very cool stuff in there. Reading and digesting.
Interesting that the "family structures" section doesn't have the overwhelmingly most-common social structure, the extended family. I can see why: most post-Recontact immigrants would be younger, so they're only just now getting to the stage of being grandparents. Those multi-generational, blood-connected groups haven't really had enough time to establish themselves.
I see the different structures in the book as being ways to create an extended family without having all the generations and cousins that exist in the World of Hurt.

Oh yeah, I didn't expect this part to have entirely new write-up. Very cool! Lovely to see the social media part as well.

Very cool! Lovely to see the social media part as well. These writeups are great fodder for plot hooks and colour. They're a way to make the setting come to life. I wonder which arcologies (and other Incorp settlements) use Whuffie / social clout / the more fevered interpretations of the Chinese social credit systems ? I could imagine it being used in Cliffside, which we still know very little about despite it being one of the largest cities on Poseidon. (That's not a criticism: it means there's plenty of scope for individual creativity.)

But yeah, not much info at all about Cliffside in the books. In fact, if you take a peek at the Quickstart doc that got released with the Kickstarter, Mark's first draft of the Pacifica Archipelago map is there and Cliffside doesn't even feature on it! Though this was a genuine mistake, not an omission by design.
