That archipelago map in the BP Recontact Quickstart is a dream come true! Having all these trenches and underwater mountain ranges, etc., makes perfect sense for the aquatic setting, whilst also giving the map a somehow otherworldly aesthetic. And of course getting to see the actual topography of the islands is amazing. I do wonder though - doesn't the map look just a little bit too busy, perhaps? I'm not sure what's causing this - might very wel just be my own head. The b&w maps in BPv2 Moderator's Guide had similar amounts of information on them. Maybe it's the richness of the colours and topographic shapes clashing with all the island/settlement/geographic feature names? Or perhaps the font size is a bit larger than my brain wants it to be? Or quite likely I simply spent most of this millennium so far staring at the b&w map (which my wife coloured) and now I just need to adjust. In any case, the map looks amazing and I'm very much looking forward to same style and quality of all the regional maps.

Definitely the part I was most impressed with. I'd be happy paying for a map-pack of the planet at some point, after the new edition releases.

Right!?! The map is amazing! Mark Richardson is the artist. He is professional cartographer in his day job and a game designer and map maker in his second life. Check out his Headspace RPG for some of his design work. He is going to be producing posters of all the maps and will offer them for sale as the project develops.
