Wherever the Medical Missionary goes, people wonder what makes a man act like he does. He prays at fixed intervals every day and night, mostly in a dead language. His life is governed by an Old World calendar that doesn't correspond to Poseidon's at all. He fasts for weeks at a stretch, and parties to celebrate the deaths of people whose significance even he struggles to explain. He bursts into tears of joy at random natural phenomena that aren't even that impressive by Poseidon's standards. He is committed to dying as he lives: broke and threadbare.
But he will be there for people when they least expect it, from the most distant jungle village to the Lucky Strike Mine camps. If you need a shoulder to cry on, or a doctor to stitch up a gunshot wound without having to go to a proper hospital, the Medical Missionary has done it before; he'll take care of you as best he can, and won't charge more than you can afford. He will always, always be there for you, until he gives up the life preserver off his back to make sure you come home safe. People know it, and that counts on Poseidon.

The locals have always wondered what kind of faith makes a man act like he does. They still do, but now a few of them are starting to wonder approvingly. The Medical Missionary is very proud about that.
Roleplaying the Medical Missionary: Complain about the GEO's two-child policy as an anti-human culture of death. (Catholics, especially professional ones, do this a lot.) Stand by your people unflinchingly and serve them selflessly, whether they consider you one of them or not. Look for a good occasion to startle everyone with a bout of 22nd-century bioconservatism (advising characters with cyberlimbs to "undo their mutilation," or beseeching dolphins to stop being promiscuous.) See the splendor of God in the ecology of Poseidon, and have intense feelings if you see it defiled.
