Wow, this is fantastic. As a GM fully focused on the narrative/descriptive aspect of my RPGs, ideally including their mechanics, I wholeheartedly love the new focus attribute idea.
Taken from the quickstart, there are now four Base Attributes:
COGNITION represents general awareness and intellect and embodies mental traits like alertness, perception, wit, intelligence, memory, learning, and general knowledge.
PSYCHE represents presence and will and embodies mental traits like appearance, charisma, personal appeal, self-discipline, and mental fortitude.
COORDINATION represents agility and dexterity and embodies physical traits like quickness, balance, athleticism, gracefulness, manual dexterity, and hand-eye coordination.
PHYSIQUE represents build and fitness and embodies physical traits like size, musculature, toughness, constitution, health, stamina, and conditioning.
But then, for every Base Attribute you pick two Focus Attributes. Examples below:
COGNITION: Aware, Brilliant, Calculating, Cunning,
Insightful, Savvy
PSYCHE: Artistic, Brave, Charismatic, Deceptive,
Determined, Resilient
COORDINATION: Agile, Athletic, Explosive, Graceful, Precise, Surefooted
PHYSIQUE: Adorable, Muscular, Powerful, Unassuming
Players either choose focus attributes from comprehensive lists provided in the corebook or make up their own—subject to approval by the moderator. Focus attributes are adjectives that describe positive mental or physical traits. When a focus attribute is more applicable to a given circumstance than the associated base attribute, it’s used instead. An applicable focus provides a +1 to the base attribute rating.
