I stumbled across this video describing a wave-powered desalination plant. I think something like this would be useful in smaller Colonial settlements across Poseidon.
The tl;dr is that the plant is anchored to the seafloor. As waves move it up and down, the motion makes a mechanical pump force water through a reverse osmosis desalination filter. The freshwater is pumped ashore and the higher-salinity brine is discharged. The low throughput of this plant is touted as a bonus; low inflow rates means few animals are trapped on the filters, and the low discharge of dilute, ambient-temperature brine means it doesn't affect the local environment either.

Holy crap, this is ingenious!! Fully agree, very fitting tech for smaller Poseidon settlements - and also a potential life changed for many communities nowadays!

Saw that myself.
And already beginning production, which is a huge plus.
Video also mentions that, since the system doesn’t require electricity, it’s super economical.
