A few months ago a bunch of us (or at least a vast majority of us) have voted for tech model names to be included in the Recontact Books. Instead of having just Large Calibre Pistols we'll get an Atlas Materials Hammer Z3, a MacLeod Enforcement Lawdawg and a Regal Arms Viper v5.0, etc. Now it's time to help Biohazard Games and come up with some more names for a whole bunch of tech! Please contribute your ideas here.

Good idea! I will make even more contribution, have to think a bit. It would be nice to have the general table at the end of the book though.

I tried to write some explanations in the last field but don't know if that was intended. I currently like my TYSTNAD Sssh9 radio jammer most... I'm pretty sure you're doing it right. Happy to hear you're enjoying this little bit of creative assignment! I wonder how many entries have backers contributed already. Probably nearing 200 by now.

To be honest, most model names are pretty boring – some semi-random letters and numbers. Sometimes the letters or numbers mean something (like the amount of RAM in an electronic device or some other feature of the thing), sometimes they are some kind of abbreviation. I presume this is because the companies wants to avoid any "humorous" interpretations of the name, but Poseidon ought to have its fair share of those though...

We have some of those in the Recontact Quickstart. Speargun 'Hydrospan AnthroThreat' and Immunological Symbiote 'MedLine Amebo' make me chuckle.

Whilst I love the Flavour of having individually "Branded" products, unless the system has a significant difference between otherwise similar products, well, what's the point?
I would far rather prefer a generic item/product entry.... BUT with a few lines of fluff, with the manufacturer, model and any specific adds or exceptions that that item has.....

I agree, it makes it more fun when the PCs can select between four different brands of scuba gear with their various quirks, they don't even need to have an attached rules detail, just knowing that "the lens is guaranteed to never fog but gives everything a yellow tint" might decide a purchase. But I prefer to have a brand name on the scuba gear even if there is only on on the market.
I think this branding is reminiscent of all the name droppings of cyberpunk novels, e.g. Neuromancer where the vehicle is not referred to as "the hovercraft" or "the vehicle" but "the Honda". Branding i IMHO a part of SF, they only reason it never happens in fantasy is because brands wasn't invented in early medieval times in Europe (I think it was in China but I have no source or reference, it was the names of trade houses – the Hansa later became a brand — and much more — within commerce).

You make a good point! In 1st/2nd editions we've seen generic items in Player's Guide and then plenty of actual models in Fluid Mechanics. Space is precious in the upcoming Player's Guide, so I imagine we made Jeff's life quite hard by voting for individually branded products.
