Hey fellow mammals, Some of you may have seen the announcement in the July Kickstarter update. The mechanics chapter of Blue Planet: Recontact has now been made available for the backers to peek at. Quoting Jeff @ Biohazard Games: "I would greatly appreciate any input about specific, omitted or confusing mechanics. I would also welcome any helpful observations about the structure and presentation of the chapter. Please share any comments or suggestions via the Kickstarter message system." Here is the link

I had (quick) read through and found it very good. I am none native English speaker, so my opinion should carry less weight, but it was very understable for me. I found the examples extremly helpful!

Are we collecting comments here? Generally, I'd remove almost all occurrences of the word "realistic". A structural bit. I'd move "Rolling for Failure" up to immediately before "Dice, TNs and Tests". I like that it says "Don't roll when failure isn't interesting", but I'd also include a description of "Success at a cost", where a failed roll could be narrated as "you get what you want, but also something bad happens". Text for "Attribute tests" should refer to "Default tests" as being the usual way of resolving these sorts of situations. (After all, in the example given, the roll would be different if Maggie had the skill set "Entertainer > > Strongman" I still don't like the first use of Strain (spend strain 1-1 to increase TN): the players in my playtest game never did that. Instead, they kept Strain for when they'd failed something with a decent chance of success. But I think that ship has sailed. One Strain for a +2 (Rule of 2) would be better, or as I did which was one Strain for an additional die in the pool. In the Manoeuvre example where Fishboy is choking a guard, why did the Moderator pick three rounds being needed before the guard was unconscious? Why not two rounds or four? Why not "keep going until you get a totalled AV of 8" or something? Vehicle manoeuvres: should mention they also apply to chases on foot and by swimming.

Didn't they mention how to comment or is that a false memory? I've not read the rules yet but I think your comments are good.

Apologies, lads. I should have mentioned this. Feedback can be sent to Biohazard Games via the KS contact function. Neill, I've sent yours to Jeff now. But I'll also remind him to pop into the forum, as there's plenty of input here.

I was thinking it would make life easier for Jeff if we collated feedback here and gave him one set to look at. But hey, so long as the feedback goes in! Thanks.
