Okay, it's not a bar. It's a harbour of some sort. Hey, that's our first look at the skink hybrid, complete with a blueish mohawk! Loving that guy. The feline hybrid looks slightly less clawed than I would have expected. But given he's wearing that fancy suit, maybe he had his claws removed?

Man the art looks so good! I like this take on hybrids. It was always a little varied with the art and descriptions in previous editions just how much animal phenotype was expressed. Fur or no fur, etc. The cat in the suit looks like he's just -immaculately- groomed. The skink looks badass too. I wonder if they're replacing the old 'mongrel' hybrid?

Very nice! I agree that the cat is well groomed.

A business cat doing cat business... I wonder how the cat memes looks on CommCore...? Well, hybrids were created over a 100 years (this is getting updated - for the time being we only know Silvas' genesis in Recontact) before 2199, so hopefully the worst barrage of racism/speciesism is now over.

Racism, both positive and negative, I always felt was a big theme in BP. At least I usually had it in there - it's just a different flavor. For instance, Natives vs. Colonist racism is absolutely there. Hybrid racism/specism absolutely. You -know- there's got to be hybrids who fully embrace the 'Catgirl/Catboy' thing to their advantage. In my old campaign we totally had a running joke about the show Baywatch: Haven featuring a cat hybrid supermodel, almost deliberately setting progress on stereotypes back fifty years. Product of the times I guess. :>

I suppose a dense, diverse cauldron of different cultures and ways of life and indeed often enough species can easily result in a lot of us vs others mentality. Not really a majority vs minority but perhaps rather a whole lot of small tribes? Though an indentured lightly modified miner might just be the "mainstream majority".

Well honestly most of us play Blue Planet our own way, and some issues hit too close to home for a lot of people, so it's not at all a 'necessary' component to the game! There's plenty of ways to introduce drama without delving into such an ugly topic after all. I do recall a fun interview with Jeff where he points out that in terms of raw population numbers, Hybrids were a very small segment of the Poseidon population, yet by demographics, most PC parties had one.

Very true, mate. Haha, and an excellent point about party composition vs overall demographics disparity! I guess players are rarely attracted to playing boring average Joes.
