IMO I always found the concept of "The Underdark" civilizations: Drow, Duerger, Svirfniblin, etc. kind of lacking in a sense of origins of an entire planet known as "The Overdark" , with a dim sun: Maybe a red or Brown dwarf star? That scarcely brightens anything on that planet in such a way that it is the true original habitat of Drow and these low visisble light creatures. There'd be a lot of these bioluminescent plants.
