So once I had some free time I sat down pouring over the new Blue Planet books, since we in theory have them all, though paging through I can't help but think we're missing some bits here and there. I tried to reconstruct what the layout maybe could possibly be I feel like there's a curious imbalance between the PG and the MG that I figured out, though it could be a math error I couldn't find it. The Players Guide would be just shy of 340 pages, while the Moderator's guide would hit around 295. Is that discrepancy intentional? Have I failed at maths? Who knows. I also think the 'Short Guide' probably will open the Moderator guide and not be at the end where I put it. Ah well. Hindsight! As for what I think we might be missing...well. Not sure. In the old editions there were some SpaceFacts about the Lamba Serpentis system, with a little table about the planetary bodies in the system, which I didn't find in the new one. Could have missed, perhaps left out because too nerdy. I think the Welcome chapter is also missing, but it's right in the Quickstart guide so that will likely open up the Players guide. Everything else seems to follow the BPv2 sections, plus Ancient Echoes material. Also I can't help but wonder, if there will be an adventure included in the Players Guide? Or is the one in the Quickstart considered part of the package? Who knows. It would make up for those extra pages in the Moderator guide! Maybe Jeff might give us a gift and actually publish the Deep Shit adventure. Okay probably not that one.... Anyway here's what I put together. Player Guide: 1: Future Timeline 5-17 2: A Future History 18-33 3: Waterworlders: 34-60 4: Cetacean Future History: 61-74 5: Cetacean Characters and Culture: 75-137 6: Wetware: 138-172 7: Hardware: 173-210 8: Weapons: 211-227 9: Vehicles: 228-245 10: Game rules: 246-270 11: Character Creation: 271-286 12: Campaign Archetypes 287-338 Mod Guide: 1: Archipelagos 5-157 2: A View from Orbit 158-170 3: The Wild Wet: 171-181 4: Bio Survey 182-225 5: Alien Legacy 226-351 6: Beyond the Frontier: 252-265 7: A World of Hurt:266-291 8: A Short Guide to Playing Blue Planet 292-295

Nice work putting this together, mate! I really hope that planetary table will get included, as it contains some precious info otherwise hardly present in the text. Hmm, it would be a pleasant surprise to see something still added to the books, but I imagine we'd be shown this - Jeff wouldn't be making a secret of it, as he does rely on us for secondary proofreading. He's now going through all our edit suggestions, so hopefully soon we should be able to cast our eyes on the assembled PDFs. I imagine they'll be quite similar to your list!

Thanks kindly! Yeah I've been falling behind on the armchair editing but I wanted to get a look at the 'shape' of the books. Hefty tomes for sure! I also had noticed that there are more books snuck in, highlights from the v2 expansion books have all snuck in here and there. I agree with you about the solar system chart, as well as a few other bits and bobs, like I noticed the table for post-cryo mishaps is missing somewhere, I think there are a bunch of 'handy tables' that will end up at the end of the Mod guide again, kind of the 'GM screen' material. Not that you need much with the new system! Also charts of dubious necessity, like the Temperature ranges by latitude and the cyclonic storm table for instance. I'm pretty sure stuff from the quickstart will be slid into the Mod guide, as it would make sense to have some pregens, a little adventure, and the Easter story in the beginning. I also recently thought of an art suggestion I -should- have made for the books, but didn't think of it in time. Needed to be a cockpit shot of a craft coming into Poseidon with a little cartoony dolphin bobble-head on the dashboard. Hah. The other side project I need to get back to is the conversion guides to the old pre-published adventures! In preparation to run BP again I was converting Natural Law over, need to finish that up. It was one of my favorites to run at conventions. Time to dust it off!

It was one of my favorites to run at conventions. Time to dust it off! A conversion guide!! I think that would be very cool to have! I sorta thought Jeff would include the four pre-gen characters from the Quickstart too - that's why I commissioned their drawings, to be honest. But the two books have sucked in so much material from Ancient Echoes, Natural Selection and others, I'm unsure if there's spare space. Having said that, I imagine Jeff himself might not be 100% yet and the assembled, laid-out PDFs will answer plenty of his questions and ours. Looking forward to those!

Planetary table totally made it in! Also my predicted layout was damn close, hah. Even just a preview but I'm so excited to be able to read Blue Planet Recontact in its (nearly) finished glory! ...hell time to run some games I guess...

Yessir, and it's such an important wee piece of info. More stuff about IHMS was also added, and the Easter and Lesear Effect shorts. Awesome stuff!! <3

The collated PDFs are awesome! There's some marvellous work done there.
Unfortunately, I also spotted a minor typo: the "twenty million km2" phrase doesn't have a superscript "2". (Moderator's Guide, p. 32) I hope we can get it fixed.

Is there a point why the heading on the first pages has different fonts (fonts weights) in PG and MG? Attachments:

Aaand given the dates, what is the likelihood the books will be shipped at the time of the Black Friday/Christmas shipping hysteria?

Is there a point why the heading on the first pages has different fonts (fonts weights) in PG and MG? Good catch, mate! I'll highlight this to Jeff as well.

Oh dear, I do very much hope the likelihood of that is high - but we should wait for Alan to announce late pledges + shipping prices first. Which should happen imminently, I think.

I've put together a small list for Jeff. I'll add this to it. Another one! The first para on p. 143 reads like it's missing a word, or the first couple of words of the paragraph have been dragged into the heading. Should it be: WestbayWestern Viejo Bay --- called Backbay locally --- is home ...

Should it be: WestbayWestern Viejo Bay --- called Backbay locally --- is home ... Hmm, I wonder if this is perhaps an actual choice. The result is awkward, yes. The section's/paragraph's title is also the beginning of the first sentence in that section/paragraph. But looking at layout I'm inclined to think there was no better way to stick an extra row on that page.
